24/7 ONLINE LIBRARY
RESEARCH AND CAREER RESOURCES
MSL subscribes to a collection of research databases through the Vermont Department of Libraries. The Vermont Online Library (VOL) covers a wide range of topics geared to a variety of age levels, for both generalists and specialists. VOL is available to Library members 24 hours a day, from anywhere Internet access is available.
Contact MSL for the password required for access, or type in your library card number, omitting any non-alpha-numeric characters that may appear at the end. Log in at http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/vol_m31 .
The Department of Libraries also offers online access to Heritage Quest, a database of genealogical resources. You must be a Mark Skinner Library cardholder to use Heritage Quest. Contact MSL for login and password. Access HeritageQuest at http://persi.heritagequestonline.com/hqoweb/library/do/login .
MSL members can now utilize two new VOL databases to get valuable career guidance:
Career Transitions is an online career center that walks users through the job search process from beginning to end. Discover career interests, prepare a resume and cover letter, brush up on networking, interviewing and negotiating skills, and find job listings. You can set up an individual account and save your work.
Small Business Resource Center helps users learn how to start, finance or manage a small business. Resources include sample business plans, “how-to” guides, articles and websites.
